I want to trust Jesus. What do I do?

What must I do to be Saved?

In the Beginning...

We were made to share our lives with God; to have an intimate exchange of our thoughts and our emotions. The first man and woman enjoyed this for sometime until they decided to disobey God. Though God created us so He could love us and we Him, He wants us to love Him through our free will and not be forced to love and worship Him like robots who are simply programmed to complete specific tasks. He wants us to choose to love Him because of who God is.

God is, among other things:

Our Creator

Holy

Just (truthful, rational and gives justice)

Almighty

When the first man and woman chose to disobey God, they caused a huge separation between God and man.

Because of who God is we must reject what is not right or evil and choose what is right and pure in God's eyes so that we can be one with Him again.

Here is what we must do:

1) BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died so you and I can have our sins forgiven

Jesus never sinned while on this earth. However, in the spiritual realm He took upon Him the sins of every person on this earth. Not just people who were alive at the time of His death but even us who were not yet born! By accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives we are accepting the forgiveness of sin that God offers to us. 

2) REPENT of our sins

To repent is to turn away from; to change direction. Repentance involves acknowledging that we are not who God has called us to be, that we are not perfect and that we have done wrong. Having recognized that Jesus is Lord and after accepting Him as Lord of our lives we must turn from the wrong that we do and begin on a new path with Jesus. 3) Be BAPTIZED

Water baptism is a sign to the world of the decision we have made to accept Jesus! It is symbolic of a cleansing from our sins and a rebirth. We are immersed in water dirty and stained by our sins but emerge through Jesus cleansed and reconciled to God.

4) DECIDE & DETERMINE each day to live a life guided by Christ so that the work began in us the day we accept Him as Lord, He will be able to bring to completion.

You may say, "I have not done anything really bad, so I don't need to do all this. I am a good person".

Here are some simple ways to help you stay on track:

A) Pray - talk with God and listen to God. Always.

B) Read your Bible

C) Apply the things you learn from God's words everyday

D) Fellowship with other believers because you are now a part of an even bigger community and to increase your faith
