Why I Write...

Hi There! My name is Elizabeth.
Welcome to my blog!!

I remember driving by a truck in the parking lot at work and it captivated me so much I stopped to take a photo. My initial response was, “why on earth would anyone put those rims on such a beat up car?” Almost immediately I found my mind observing the truck from a brand new perspective that suddenly made it worthy of the rims. Maybe, just maybe, the owner of this truck sees something that I do not yet see. A vision that he might not have all the parts for, but has not allowed his perceived lack, or even challenges to stop him from working toward.

Quite the portrait of faith!

It made me think of the many times I had been hesitant to move according to the Spirit of God. I would evaluate what I believed to be required for the task and feeling as though I did not have all the working parts I became like Moses who though he accepted God’s invitation to join in the work He was about to do, focused on his 'inadequacies' and so limited God at work through him. Moses' attention was on what he thought was not fitting in him for the task (speech impediment) instead of on the power of the One who was sending him.
I acknowledge that I am a work in progress to the vision that God already sees for my life! Writing is my way of putting the rims on what is the 'beat up vehicle' of my life that God has made anew.

It cannot be denied that our love and gratitude to God inspires us to share what He has done and what He is doing in our lives. Each of us therefore, needs to find our own niche and use it as our platform to announce to the world God's activity in our lives:). We are challenged daily to believe God that He will use what we have and will give us what we need to work His purpose out for the world and in our lives.

Therefore we shouldn't be ashamed or afraid of the tools (abilities, talents etc.) we already have nor should we 'shrink back' because of what people might think of our expression of faith. Exercise confidence in God!

On my blog, SHINE YOUR LIGHT, I will share my faith, lessons I have learned, workshops I have led and my experiences, good and not so good (smile), but which I believe all work together to make me a better person each day. If ever YOU are that one person blessed or challenged by these writings, then my blog would have served a truly divine purpose!

I am excited to have you join me on this journey (BIG smile)!

  1. I truly love your blogs. thanks again for sharing. I must admit I am guilty of putting things off because I want to have everything neceessry to complete a project before I start. As I read this I will, going forward, make a conscience effort to utilize the gifts (resources) that God has allotted me and trust HE will provide me more as needed.

    1. Thank you so much, Journie for your continued support. It is my prayer that God will continue to speak to you through these posts to not simply remind you of who you are in Him but to challenge you to exercise a confidence in Him that will make you bold enough to do what He has called you to do with what you have been given! Blessings!

    1. Thank you so much Shirley-Ann for your kind words. You are right God really does take care of us barging in on the scene of our lives the very moment we seek Him out (smile). I love the idea behind your journal and whether you choose to share it with the world or not I know you will be able to track your personal and spiritual growth and your relationship with God will soar. Can you imagine looking back a few years down the line to see the different things you have been through and what God said to you then; where you were then to compare with where He is taking you?! Woohoo I am getting excited thinking about it!! I started out with a journal too. It didn't have a specific title or objective; I found that I wrote when I was the most perplexed or when I was going through something. All the best on your writing journey my dear. It would be great to have you as a guest blogger (wink wink) whenever you are ready. Lots and lots of love Shirlz. May God continue to bless and keep you!
